There was a special premiere before the 9th where the actors were present, some even acting in their character as Black Pete.
It is remarkable that there are so many lesser black pieten shown in the film because according to sources (De Telegraaf, among others) the majority of the Netherlands are no fans of changing the tradition.
Even the darkest Pete in the movie is not entirely traditional.
The shortage of completely black Petes was called "cowardly" by the Dutch newspaper NRC in a review about this movie. This is equivalent to the opinion of most Dutch people, 95 percent of the Dutch people are against changing Black Pete according to the Dutch news television programs "Hart van Nederland" and "Shownieuws".
The character Patty Pepernoot is the darkest Black Pete in the trailer.
