Brittany O’Grady (The White Lotus) and E. J. Bonilla (The Exorcist: Believer) star in the upcoming psychological horror movie In Our Blood. Today, a new clip has emerged ahead of the film’s debut at Fantasia, featuring a tense moment involving a sinister warning.

In the film, “Nothing is as it seems, when filmmaker Emily Wyland (Brittany O’Grady) teams up with cinematographer Danny (E. J. Bonilla) to shoot an intimate documentary about reuniting with Emily’s estranged mother after a decade apart. When her mother suddenly goes missing, possibly succumbing to the addictions that first tore her family apart, Emily and Danny must piece together increasingly sinister clues to find her before it’s too late.”

In Our Blood marks the narrative feature directorial debut by Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Pedro Kos.

The 28th edition of the Fantasia International Film Festival is set to run from from July 18th through August 4th at the Concordia Hall and J.A. de Sève cinemas in Montreal, with additional screens and events at Cinémathèque québécoise and Cinéma du Musée. Over the last couple of months, the festival announced the first wave and the second wave of titles that will be screening this year, and now the final wave has been unveiled, along with an announcement that genre filmmaker Mike Flanagan will be receiving a career achievement award at the festival!

Here it is, the final wave of titles for this year's edtion of the Fantasia International Film Festival. US filmmaker Mike Flanagan, behind Netflix series The Haunting Of Hill House, will receive a career award at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival (July 18-August 4) as the final wave of titles are unveiled.

Flanagan is best known for his collaborations with Netflix which also include Midnight Mass, The Haunting Of Bly Manor, The Midnight Club and most recently The Fall Of The House Of Usher. Among his film credits are Oculus, Hush, Doctor Sleep, Gerald’s Game and upcoming title The Life Of Chuck starring Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Heralding from doc filmmaker and Oscar short nominee Pedro Kos, who recently signed with CAA, the project is the first fully financed by Duncan Jones and Stuart Fenegan’s Liberty Films, under their initiative to support debut features.

Moon filmmaker Jones is among executive producers with actor Morgan Freeman and producing partner Lori McCreary.

What to expect from a genre festival honoring the un-expected? The Fantasia International Film Festival returns to Montréal for its 28th edition from July 18 to August 4 and it promises a killer lineup — with over 125 features and more than 200 shorts in total. The festival’s third and final programming announcement, made exclusive to IndieWire first, includes features from Steven Kostanski, Eugene Kotlyarenko, Scooter McCrae, and more.

André Forcier will show on closing night for the festival with the world premiere of “Ababouiné.” The filmmaker’s latest is a distinctly regional period piece and buzzy potential masterpiece about a group of kids growing up in 1950s Quebec under the harsh eye of the Catholic Church. Fantasia has awarded the film’s director the Prix Denis-Héroux, an accolade “bestowed for exceptional contribution to the development of Quebec genre cinema.”

Three festival-goers will choose the winner of the international series competition.

Switzerland’s Geneva International Film Festival (Giff) has unveiled the programme for its 29th edition, with festival hits including Polite Society and The Sweet East, and a new format for its international series competition.

The festival includes 110 works, of which 53 are films, 27 are series, 28 are immersive experiences and two are installations.

Giff includes four competition sections: international feature, international series, international immersive and the convergent competition – the latter section featuring projects from all three formats.

Twelve Times Two

Production is under way on season two of “The Twelve,” a crime drama which follows a controversial murder trial as seen through the lens of the 12 jury members, ordinary members of the public with their own realities and struggles. On completion, it will screen on Foxtel’s Binge streaming service. International distribution is by Fifth Season. Western Australia premier Roger Cook said that the “The Twelve S2” is the largest ever production in the state.

As previously announced, Sam Neill and Frances O’Connor (“The End,” “AI”) reprise their roles as senior lawyers.
