Trivia

Joan the Woman

Edit
When the film began its road-show run in major cities it was 12 reels long, but, over director Cecil B. DeMille's objections, was quickly shortened to 10 reels.
Geraldine Farrar was age 34 when playing the 19-year-old Joan of Arc.
First film to use the Handschiegl Color Process. This process is especially noted when Joan is burning at the stake with the use of red and yellow for the increased dramatic effect.
Ramon Novarro's film debut, as a "starving peasant." At that time, he was known as " Ramon Samaniegos" but later became Novarro. Another small unidentified role was given to Jack Holt. He later became a successful actor, working primarily at Universal and Paramount Studios, becoming a popular Western and adventure film star in the silent and early talkie era.
Producer Cecil B. DeMille has said that during filming preparation he became obsessed with historical research, costume and set design, and casting decisions.
