- Title Card: The next morning the angry King comes to discipline his sister.
- Mary Tudor: I know why you have come this morning, brother dear. To tell me you have released that brave Captain of the Guards.
- Henry VIII: Never!
- Mary Tudor: That brave Captain who saved the honor of the House of Tudor. That brave Captain who saved your helpless little sister from disgrace - - and perhaps worse. That clever Captain who taught you the new French dance - - which you danced so wonderfully.
- Mary Tudor: Come in! I am happy to receive you, though I am not exactly in court attire.
- Henry VIII: Cover that arm, hussy!
- Mary Tudor: And bring us also a leg of lamb, some ribs of beef, a fowl, some aie, white wine, a cheese and pudding, a flask of burgundy and -...
- Henry VIII: Shame on you, hussy! - - stopping at this tavern, thus attired like a wanton!
- Mary Tudor: Brother!... You give me that name? What have I done? I have been defiant - - but I am not a wanton!
- Henry VIII: What have you done? Fled with a common Captain of my Guard! Stopped at this tavern like a common jade!
- Queen Catherine: The King sends his drapers - - you are to choose your wedding gown.
- Mary Tudor: So my dear brother is willing that I choose my wardrobe - - if not my husband.
- Title Card: King Louis is determined to show his young Queen that he is a gay and romantic youth.
- Title Card: Old Louis has not yet learned that when he bargained for a queen he did not buy a wife.
- Title Card: In a raging storm the Angel of Death draws near, but nothing can convince King Louis that he is no longer young.
- Louis XII: I'll dance with the Queen to-night if France has another King to-morrow!
- [collapses and dies]
- Mary Tudor: Sir, I demand to know why guards are posted at my door?
- Francis I: Our Queen is so beloved that we should be grieved to lose her.
- Duke of Buckingham: But, sire, a Princess of the blood royal cannot be the wife of a commoner!
- Mary Tudor: My Lord of Buckingham is right. Then why not make my husband Duke of Suffolk?
- Henry VIII: [to Brandon] And now you can try to tame her, my Duke of Suffolk - - and heaven help you!
- Mary Tudor: We shall await the King, ladies... the King who struts about, ready to walk on anybody!
- Mary Tudor: [continues] But he shall not walk on me!... though he be twice as swaggering, thrice as blustering and seven times the King of England!
- Duc de Longueville: A wedding present from my august master to his promised Queen.
- Mary Tudor: Tell your master I will see his whole Kingdom sunk before I will be his Queen!
- Henry VIII: By heaven, hussy, you'll marry France this hour! And *I'll* give you a wedding present!... the head of Charles Brandon!
- Title Card: A few weeks later the people of Paris made a joyous holiday to hail an unhappy girl as the new Queen of France.
