Annabella replaced Merle Oberon in the French language version, "La Bataille," even though Oberon spoke French. Charles Boyer, however, repeated his role in the Gallic version.
Gilles Grangier, future director from France - replaced Boyer in the boat deck scene, not Decoin.
Future French director Henri Decoin, who was simple extra on the shooting, was personally asked to be the lining of Charles Boyer for a scene that had to be re shoot, when Boyer was unfortunately absent. It took place on the ship deck, during the storm. The person the audience see is Decoin himself, not Boyer.
