George Brent, Kay Francis, and Warren William in Living on Velvet (1935)

Trivia

Living on Velvet

Edit
The "wavishing Kay Fwancis" actually mocked herself in this film for Kay Francis's well-known trouble in pronouncing the letter "R." When Terry (George Brent) notices that her "april" comes out sounding like "apwil", he forces her to repeat "Around the rugged rocks the ragged rascals ran," which comes out "Awound the wugged wocks the wagged wascals wan."
It took five takes until George Brent and Kay Francis got through the donut-dunking scene without laughing.
Terry's amphibious plane is a Douglas Dolphin 114, registration NC14204. Only 58 were built. It was owned by the Wilmington-Catalina Airlines for passenger service to and from the Catalina Islands. Requistioned by the Army in 1942, it was shipped to Australia in 1943 for use by the Royal Australian Air Force. On July 29, 1943 is crashed at Rose Bay, NSW and was stripped for parts. This plane was also used for Murder on a Honeymoon (1935).
Modern sources credits Lew Borzage as the Assistant Director; in fact, they frequently worked together directing. He was one of Frank Borzage's younger brothers working in the film business; Danny Borzage was the other Borzage. Danny was an accordion player and member of John Ford stock company, where he acted and played mood music before and sometimes during scenes.
Paul Fix (Intern) and Olaf Hytten (Travis) are listed as cast members in the AFI Catalog (1931-1940), but were not seen in the print.
