As the boys are gathering the pieces of fire hose from the street, Curly names the pieces that were cut on the tracks . The naming is a reference to the famous Dionne Quintuplets from Canada. He only gets to three names before Moe smacks him. He says , " Marie , Yvonne , Annette " ...missing Emile and Cecile . This would have been a very recognizable reference at that time .
At about 14:25, standing on the extreme right, wearing a striped suit and light-colored fedora, is Solomon Horwitz. He is the father of Moe, Curly, and Shemp.
The firetruck is a 1921 Seagrave Combination Chemical and Hose Wagon. The classy roadster that pulls in front of the Captains car (causing the wreck) is a 1929 Graham-Paige Model 621 Roadster.
