Actress Dorothy Lee was filming "Silly Billies" at RKO Radio Pictures at the same time as "Follow the Fleet" was being filmed. Gag photos were taken of her with Randolph Scott on the set of "Follow the Fleet", intending to promote both movies. But because she dressed in a sailor outfit, people ever since have assumed erroneously from the photos that she appeared in "Follow the Fleet".
