The address on the can of salted peanuts Curly is eating, is the address for Columbia Pictures. In 1935, it was located at 1339 North Beachwood Drive. It is now part of Sunset Gomer Studios at 1438 Gomer Street.
In the opening scene, it shows: Today's special, Lobster with Frog Legs, 35 cents. Adjusting by inflation, that's equivalent to $7.24 nowadays.
The film's title is a straightforward slang expression meaning "betting on racehorses".
