Lucille Ball, Ruth Donnelly, Jack Oakie, and Bradley Page in The Affairs of Annabel (1938)

Trivia

The Affairs of Annabel

Edit
First film where Lucille Ball's name appears above the title in this RKO picture. In about 19 years, she would own the studio, along with her husband Desi Arnaz.
The car that picks up Annabel from prison is a very rare 1938 Cadillac Series 95 model 9053 7-passenger town car. Only 11 were built in 1938 and it was priced at $7,170 (over $138,000 in 2021) with an optional radio for $95.00 ($1,830 in 2021). It features a V-16 engine. In excellent condition at auction this car could fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars in 2021.
The main gate to Wonder Pictures studios was really a dressed-up entrance to RKO Studios on North Gower Street near Melrose Avenue.
This is the second of three films in which character actor Granville Bates appeared on screen alongside Lucille Ball. Each film in which they appeared together was released in 1938 and starred Ball as the female lead. The other films to include the two actors were Go Chase Yourself (1938) and Next Time I Marry (1938).
According to a contemporary article in The Hollywood Reporter, Richard Lane was to be Ball's co-star in this picture.
