One of over 700 Paramount productions, filmed between 1929 and 1949, which were sold to MCA/Universal in 1958 for television distribution, and have been owned and controlled by Universal ever since. Its initial television broadcasts took place in Seattle Tuesday 18 November 1958 on KIRO (Channel 7), in Boston Wednesday 10 December 1958 on WBZ (Channel 4) and in Los Angeles Tuesday 6 January 1959 on KNXT (Channel 2); sponsor interest was borderline non-existent, but it surfaced again in Denver 17 April 1959 on KBTV (Channel 9), in Omaha 20 September 1959 on KETV (Channel 7), in Johnstown 16 October 1959 on WJAC (Channel 6), in Omaha 20 October 1959 on KETV (Channel 7), in Minneapolis 25 October 1959 on WTCN (Channel 11), and in Toledo 29 January 1960 on WTOL (Channel 11).
Presented as part of the Kraft Music Hall of the Air Program (Red Network of NBC) on Thursday, 6 October 1938, World-Premiered in Little Rock, Arkansas on 6 October 1938.
"Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie on January 30, 1939 with Bob Burns, Fay Bainter, Jean Parker and Dickie Moore reprising their film roles.
