In the opening credits, one card states "Brunswick radios used exclusively." Later, Johnny is seen in a store window advertising Brunswick radios and is shown having recorded on the Brunswick label. Warner Bros. had bought the Brunswick radio and recording brands in 1930, the year before this picture was made. However, they sold off the radio and recording divisions separately by December of 1931, seeing that they could not compete successfully with giants like RCA, especially during the Depression.
The $125 weekly salary Mac initially makes as a copy writer equates to about $2,530 in 2023.
Warners was constantly remaking its films in the 1930s, and it becomes clear fairly early on that this was only minimally reworked two years later for the much more notorious Baby Face (1933).
