Constance Bennett in After Tonight (1933)

Trivia

After Tonight

Edit
Constance Bennett (Carla) was married to Henri de la Falaise at the time this film was made, but she later divorced him in 1940 and married Gilbert Roland (Rudy) in 1941.
This film failed at the box office, resulting in a loss to RKO of $100,000 (nearly $2M in 2019) according to studio records. The studio considered firing Constance Bennett because of this.
A little "Easter Egg" appears in the form of Virginia Weidler ---- Carla's niece.

Virginia Weidler is best remembered in her short time as an actress and alive as Katherine Hepburn's sister in Philadelphia Story (1940.) Immediate thoughts might be of her playing the piano and singing of Lydia The Tattooed Lady or may be having 'smallpox'.

Here, she is uncredited at 5-years-old with only seconds of camera time.

This was her second time on film and second time uncredited.
Four Years later, Constance Bennett would appear more lively as a dead Marion Kerby.

She played Cary Grant's wife in Topper (1937)
A shortage of German-speaking actors, RKO (Radio Pictures) settled for a Mexican-born Gilbert Roland and his Mexican accent to fake for a German Captain Rudy Ritter.

Mexicans playing Germans. Italian-Americans playing Native Americans,.. The practice was not new.
