The failure of the original copyright holder to renew the film's copyright resulted in it falling into public domain, meaning that virtually anyone could duplicate and sell a VHS/DVD copy of the film; therefore, many of the versions of this film available on the market are either severely (and usually badly) edited and/or of extremely poor quality, having been duped from second- or third-generation (or more) copies of the film.
This film's earliest documented telecast took place in Los Angeles 3/19/50 on KNBH (Channel 4).
Snub Pollard, on of the "Soup Customers" Glimpy steals soup from, is usually credited with being the first to film the "Oyster Stew" routine, where the comedian battles a live oyster in his stew. Lou Costello and Curley Howard, among others, also preformed this gag on film.
Although there are no more than five or six gang members present during the movie, in the final battle scene there are more than a dozen fighting the bad guys.
