Final film of Edith Wolff.
Chief Inspector Düwell is based on the actual Chief Inspector Walter Dew from Scotland Yard who arrested the real Dr. Crippen. He died in 1947, 5 years after the movie.
Erich Engels later directed Dr. Crippen lebt (1958), which however is not related to this movie and has very Little Connection to Crippen's case.
Based on the criminal case of the US-American Doctor and later murder Dr. Hawley Harvey Crippen in London Holloway. In the movie his name was changed from "Hawley" to "Frank". The actual murder took place in 1910 instead of 1928, as in the movie. The actual Dr. Crippen was also executed in 1910.
