Superman: Showdown (1942)

Trivia

Superman: Showdown

Edit
This marks the first time on screen when a villain shoots at Superman, realizes his bullets are ineffective and decides to throw his gun at Superman as an alternate form of attack.
This is the first short in the Famous Studios Superman cartoon series to feature, "Faster than a streak of lightning! More powerful than the pounding surf! Mightier than a roaring hurricane!" as the descriptive lines about Superman abilities in the opening sequence which also seemed to reflect the surroundings of the studio's real-life production location in Miami, Florida. These new lines remained for the rest of the series replacing, "Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to soar higher than any plane!" which were heard in the previous 3 cartoons in the series.
The young man in the Daily Planet with the red hair and a box tie that tells Clark Kent and Lois Lane that the chief wants then to cover the opera is never named on screen, but heavily resembles Jimmy Olson, a character that officially debut a few years prior in "Superman" issue #13 (1941).
