The Wabbit Who Came to Supper (1942)

FAQ

The Wabbit Who Came to Supper

    Merrie Melodies.

In a few early cartoons, the relatively slim Elmer Fudd is roundly fat. They are:

Wabbit Twouble (1941) (1941), The Wabbit Who Came to Supper (1942) (1942), Fresh Hare (1942) (1942), Any Bonds Today? (1942) (1942) and The Wacky Wabbit (1942) (1942).

Note that Elmer was slim before and after these cartoons. During his fat days he was modeled on the voice actor playing him, Arthur Q. Bryan.

It's a take-off on the Broadway hit by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart called The Man Who Came to Dinner. In 1942 a movie version was made.

Bugs Bunny lifts a typical line from the radio program, "Fibber McGee and Molly."

Yes, it's included in the Looney Tunes Golden Collection, Volume One (2003) (V) Disc 1.
