Basil Rathbone, Hillary Brooke, Nigel Bruce, and Milburn Stone in Sherlock Holmes Faces Death (1943)

Trivia

Sherlock Holmes Faces Death

Edit
References Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original Sherlock Holmes story, "The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual".
The set which represents Musgrave Hall would be used in a few of the Universal horror films.
The sixth of 14 films based on Arthur Conan Doyle's fictional consulting detective Sherlock Holmes starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson.
If the basement crypt looks familiar, it is due to the fact that the set was originally built for Dracula (1931), the iconic Universal classic.
Considering that Universal Pictures couldn't shoot on location in the UK, as it was during the Second World War, the street exterior scenes, for example outside the pub, clearly attempted to set-dress existing standing European sets on their back lot. In some shots it worked to look like English architecture, but in other shots it appears that they are in some generic continental town.
