This short happened to be filming on April 12, 1945. When news of the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt reached the set, filming stopped for the day.

The animation of the cuckoo clock inside Curly Howard's head was done by Tex Avery.

Longtime Columbia Pictures sound man Edward Bernds' made his debut as a director on this short. He later said that directing Curly was really difficult due to his health problems and Moe had to coach him line by line. Despite being released in February 1946, this short was filmed first before Micro-Phonies (1945)' (1945) and The Three Troubledoers (1946) (1946) because Bernds was able to convince studio head Harry Cohn to push back the releases for the three shorts. Micro-Phonies (1945)' (1945) was the best of the three Curly shorts because of his bright performance.

Moe calls the gorilla "Ingagi." INGAGI was the title of a low budget horror film made in 1930 about a monster gorilla.

On the title lobby card for this film, actor Frank Lackteen's name is misspelled as Lacteen.
