Morgan Conway, Anne Jeffreys, and Dick Wessel in Dick Tracy vs. Cueball (1946)

Trivia

Dick Tracy vs. Cueball

Edit
The second of four classic Dick Tracy movies released by RKO from 1945 to 1947.
Ian Keith as "Vitamin Flintheart" is doing a wicked, but devastatingly accurate impersonation of John Barrymore.
Penultimate film for Morgan Conway, a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild. This was Conway's second and last portrayal of Dick Tracy. Conway's "Tracy" films were successful at the box office, but theater owners thought a return to the "original" Tracy, actor Ralph Byrd, would make the series even more of a draw. Byrd had played Tracy in four highly successful serials from Republic released from 1937 to 1941. Creator Chester Gould wanted Conway to continue in the role, but he was assigned to another "B" unit film and his contract, which expired in 1947, was not renewed.
The character Cueball receives an "introducing" credit.
Re-released in 1966 as part of a double bill with Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome (1947).
