Following the release of this short film, Sniffles would have a career in comics. It would take 50 years before he would have another animated appearance.
"Tuffy's Tavern" is a parody of the popular radio program "Duffy's Tavern." The cat answering the phone spoofs the main character's familiar opening, which was always: "Hello, Duffy's Tavern, where the elite meet to eat. Archie the manager speakin'. Duffy ain't here--oh, hello, Duffy."
Film star Edward G. Robinson, who played many gangster roles, is spoofed here as Eddie G. Robincat. Cinema audiences of the era would have recognized and appreciated the humorous send up.
This is the final Looney Tunes short to feature the end title with Porky Pig bursting through the drum saying "T-t-t-that's all, folks!".
Sniffles breaks the fourth wall with his usual silly style.
