- Dean McWilliams: We don't seem to be able to get those landings of yours right yet. Do we, David?
- David Wilton: No, I'm sorry, Dean.
- Dean McWilliams: Ah, cheer up. Don't look so worried.
- David Wilton: [smiles] Sorry.
- Dean McWilliams: And don't be so sorry about everything!
- David Wilton: [smiles again] No, I'm so... no.
- Dean McWilliams: Tell me, uh... did you ever get away from camp?
- David Wilton: Well...
- Dean McWilliams: Go out and enjoy yourself?
- David Wilton: No, not much.
- Dean McWilliams: Well, what about coming down to my ranch this weekend? Meet the wife?
- David Wilton: Yeah, I'd like to.
- Dean McWilliams: As a matter of fact, we always stopped helping you fellas on each course. Just like the rest of the folks do around here. How would you like me as a foster parent?
- David Wilton: [smiles] Well, well I'd like it very much.
- Dean McWilliams: Okay, I'm it. Now, who else should we adopt? You got any particular pal?
- David Wilton: Well, yes, there is someone I'd rather like to bring along. That is if it's alright with you.
- Dean McWilliams: Of course it's alright. Who is it?
- David Wilton: Well, it's John Aynesworth.
- Dean McWilliams: Oh, well, uh, tell me, do I get into that guy's hair as much as he gets into mine?
- David Wilton: He's alright when you get to know him. At least I like him.
- Dean McWilliams: Well, we all got to make our little sacrifices, I guess. I'll adopt the little rat.
- David Wilton: Johnny!
- John Aynesworth: [shakes his hand] Hello, Dave.
- David Wilton: [looking at the stripes on Aynesworth's uniforms] Oh, good work Johnny, I knew you'd make it!
- [At the home of Dean McWilliams, David Wilton and John Aynesworth can be seen having dinner with Dean and his wife. Dean's wife can be seen entering and sitting down at the table. John stands up.]
- Dean McWilliams: Will you stop bobbing up and down like that?
- Mrs. Mary McWilliams: Sit down, John. Pay no attention to that husband of mine. He never did have any manners of his own.
- Dean McWilliams: Oh, is that so?
- Mrs. Mary McWilliams: Yes darling, that is so.
- Dean McWilliams: David, pass john the chess, will you?
- David Wilton: [picks up the cheese and passes it to John] Yes, sure.
- Dean McWilliams: Well, uh, this Oliver kid was flying solo one day, he had just three hours to his...
- [Dean notices John looking uncomfortable]
- Dean McWilliams: What's the matter with the cheese?
- John Aynesworth: [surprised] Why nothing, nothing at all
- Dean McWilliams: Don't you want any?
- John Aynesworth: I guess I'd love some after I finish my pie.
- Dean McWilliams: Why after?
- John Aynesworth: [surprised] Isn't that the orthodox way of eating cheese?
- Mrs. Mary McWilliams: [hands some to John] Here John, you try some, it's awful good.
- John Aynesworth: [takes some and smiles] Oh, I see, this is the orthodox way.
- Dean McWilliams: You know, kid? You give me one hell of an inferiority complex.
- John Aynesworth: You know you give me one, too.
- Dean McWilliams: Do I? Is that so?
- [Dean suddenly bursts into laughter]
- Dean McWilliams: [laughing] Well well, what do you know about that?
- Mrs. Mary McWilliams: But don't look so pleased about it, honey.
- [Dean looks up at his wife]
- Mrs. Mary McWilliams: Uh... go on about Oliver.
- Dean McWilliams: Oh yeah... well uh, this Oliver kid was flying solo one day when his fuel started to give up.
- [Dean points at the cheese that John's eating]
- Dean McWilliams: Good, isn't it?
- [Dean looks at his wife]
- Dean McWilliams: And Mary, give him some more.
- [Dean looks at David]
- Dean McWilliams: What do you think of this Oliver kid did? He cut off his engine, called up the control tower, and said, "what do I do now?"
- [everyone bursts into laughter as the story finishes]
- [following a flight, Dave Wilton has crashed his plane during an attempted landing. As he's emerged from the wreck, he can be seen standing in front of Dean McWilliams]
- David Wilton: Sorry, sir.
- Dean McWilliams: Don't forget it, you alright?
- David Wilton: Yeah, I think so, sir.
- Dean McWilliams: Why didn't you go around again?
- David Wilton: Well, I had to get down some time.
- [following a crash during a landing, David Wilton can be seen in the office of Dean McWilliams, the latter who is standing while talking]
- Dean McWilliams: There's nothing wrong with your nerve.
- David Wilton: Good.
- Dean McWilliams: No, it's not good at all. I thought your trouble was under confidence. I was wrong
- David Wilton: What is my trouble in?
- Dean McWilliams: I don't know, all I know is it's something I can't cure.
- David Wilton: [reaches into his pocket] Do you mind if I have a cigarette, please?
- Dean McWilliams: [picks up a pack on his desk] Here, have one of mine.
- [David takes the cigarette before looking forward with a despondent expression on his face]
