This was Virginia O'Brien's final starring role and the last film she made for MGM. After this she had small roles in two later films but otherwise retired from the screen.
This movie is a remake of Make Me a Star (1932) with Stuart Erwin and Joan Blondell.
An article in the 25 April 1946 edition of The Hollywood Reported noted Buster Keaton was to star in this film.
Originally produced in August to October 1946, the picture fared badly with preview audiences, so studio executives ordered extensive re-shoots and some recasting beginning in February 1947.
This film failed at the box office, resulting in a loss to MGM of $367,000 (over $5.32M in 2025) according to studio records.
