The 200 Austrian schillings the prince says he needs to earn at his job as a waiter would equal about $37.50 at the time or around $791 in 2023. This is not to be confused with the shilling unit of currency that was used in the United Kingdom. The schilling was part of Austria's currency from 1925-38 and again from 1945 to 1999 when it was replaced by the Euro.
Fritz Feld is made up to resemble Erich von Stroheim, and his character behaves in a martinet manner often employed by Stroheim.
