The film dialogue often refers to "The Lambs Club," which is still around! The Lambs was formed in 1874 and is a club for actors and entertainment professionals.
The failure of the original copyright holder to renew the film's copyright resulted in it falling into public domain, meaning that virtually anyone could duplicate and sell a VHS/DVD copy of the film. Therefore, many of the versions of this film available on the market are either severely (and usually badly) edited and/or of extremely poor quality, having been duped from second- or third-generation (or more) copies of the film.
Margaret Sullavan was originally set to play the role of Kay Martin.
John Mannering (Adolphe Menjou) is said to have a nickname of "The Great Lover". To audiences of the 1930s, this would provide the character with the standing of a great actor, like John Barrymore who was known as "The Great Profile". Mannering is also a major star of stage and screen, like Barrymore was.
Mannering says that Rudy Vallee has offered Edgar and Charlie a spot on his radio show. In real life, they did make their radio debut with Vallee.
