One Wild Night

Three men have drawn out money to deal with unknown people who are threatening to kidnap them, and disappeared. Police Chief Andrew Tombes doesn't have a lead. Things only get worse when his son, Dick Baldwin, leaves his criminology course after only a month to apply scientific methods; these seem to consist of getting tips from reporter June Lang and running them into dead ends with plainclothesman Sidney Toler.

Eugene Forde is the director of this comedy-mystery with a wealth of supporting comics. These include J. Edward Bromberg,William Demarest, Lyle Talbot, Johnny Arthur, Clem Bevans, and the usual rich assortment available to 20th Century-Fox's B division. The mystery side of it is pretty good. The comics play it very broadly. Forde, in his usual manner, directs for speed, and that is sometimes an issue, but overall it's a very amusing little movie.
