Geraldine Fitzgerald and Jeffrey Lynn in A Child Is Born (1939)

Trivia

A Child Is Born

Edit
The film was rejected in Ireland, New Zealand, and British Columbia because it might have created fear in expectant mothers. Scenes of expectant mothers experiencing labor pains, as well as scenes of actual or suggested childbirth were purposely omitted. In fact none of the expectant mothers even looked pregnant.
Based on the play "Life Begins" (also the title of the original film version) which opened on Broadway in New York City, New York, USA at the Selwyn Theatre, 227 W. 42nd St. on 28 March 1932 but closed after only 8 performances. In the cast were Glenda Farrell, Mildred Dunnock, and Frank Wilcox.
Final film of Marie Wells.
This film's earliest documented telecast took place in Tucson Tuesday 25 September 1956 on KDWI (Channel 9); it first aired in Los Angeles Wednesday 10 October 1956 on KNXT (Channel 2), in Indianapolis Thursday 11 October 1956 on WISH (Channel 8), in Salt Lake City Thursday 1 November 1956 on KUTV (Channel 2), in Los Angeles Sunday 2 December 1956 on KNXT (Channel 2), in Wichita Tuesday 8 January 1957 on KAKE (Channel 10), and in Sacramento Saturday 12 January 1957 on KBET (Channel 10).
