According to a contemporary article in The Hollywood Reporter, this film was slated for production in 1938 with Peter Holden in the title role. RKO intended to make a series of "Little Orvie" films depending on the reception of this picture, but none were subsequently made.
During the picture, it is revealed that "Orvie" is short for Orvand.
