Jeff Ramsay's horse is called Smokey in this film. His real name is Smoke. This equine actor has been in fifteen movies with Dick Foran.
The opening scene showing the two Indians smoking a peace pipe and then open the tepee flap to reveal the movie credits. This has been parodied by comedians, such as Soupy Sales, Steve Allen, and others. What usually happens when the flap is open, either a stampede of buffalo or cattle, or a train coming right at the tepee. Ending the skit with screams and one of the Indians saying something like; "You put the tepee on the tracks!"
Body count: 61 (mostly Indians)
Three times in this movie stunt horses were tripped using a harness called a "running w". The Humane Society of America banded these type of stunts in the 40's because too many horses were being injured or killed.
