Mr. & Mrs. Smith

FAQ

No one has answered this question yet.

Mr & Mrs Smith is a screwball comedy written for the movies by American screenwriter Norman Krasna.

They had just quarreled, and they had a rule between them that neither person would leave the room until they made up.

Yes. Mr Smith (Robert Montgomery)'s first name is David. Mrs Smith (Carole Lombard)'s first name is Ann.

The Smiths obtained a wedding license in Brenda County, Idaho and were married in Beecham, Idaho. After spending three years thinking that they're legally married, they come to find that Beecham, being on the other side of the Bass River, is technically in Nevada. So, any marriages performed in Beecham, Nevada with an out-of-state Idaho license have been declared invalid.

For two reasons. He wanted to start his nose bleeding again so that he could go home and get out of his date with Gloria (Patricia Farr). Moreso, he wanted a reason to leave so that he didn't have to watch Ann and Jeff (Gene Raymond) on their date.

About 40 minutes into the film, when David and Jeff leave Ann's apartment building and go their separate ways, Hitch walks by the building from left to right.

Jeff and Ann go to Lake Placid for a weekend only to find that the person in the cabin next to Ann's cabin is David. Ann puts on a big ruse, as though she and Jeff are getting loudly romantic. David gets upset and tries to break them up. In his attempts to restrain Ann, he puts her in a headlock. Ann screams and calls to Jeff for help. Jeff breaks them up. Ann wants Jeff to hit David, but Jeff forgives him instead. Ann throws a huge hissyfit just as Jeff's very Southern conservative parents enter the cabin. Jeff's father forbids any marriage between him and Ann, but Ann announces that she would never marry such a stuffed shirt and spineless jellyfish anyway. Ann decides to lspend the evening at the lodge instead of her cabin. Since it's after hours and there's no transportation, she intends to ski the half-mile to the lodge, but she can't figure out how to put on the skis. David helps her, but then she can't figure out how to stand up in them. As Ann throws yet another hissyfit, David bends over and kisses her. "Oh, David! Oh...David! Oooooh, David.!"

No. She made one more movie, To Be or Not to Be (1942), before she was tragically killed in an airplane crash on 16 January, 1942 outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was 33 years old.

Yes. The film was adapted for "Screen Director's Playhouse" for the 30 January 1949 episode. Robert Montgomery reprises his role, while Mary Jane Croft takes over for the late Carole Lombard.
