Sir Dirk Bogarde (Tony Craig) was unhappy with the final product, saying that this movie was "as funny as a baby's coffin".
Sir Dirk Bogarde (Tony Craig) agreed to be in this movie because he was eager for lighter material after his role in The Stranger in Between (1952).
The first British film to be made in Spain. There had been a boycott on filming in Spain due to the Franco regime's support for Germany during World War II.
Writer, Producer, and Director Val Guest attempted to obtain Montgomery Clift, Cary Grant, Robert Cummings, William Holden, and Frank Sinatra for the male cheese salesman lead, but they all turned him down.
Val Guest's debut as a producer, he also wrote and directed this film.
