Virginia Grey replaced Beverly Garland after a few days of shooting. As Garland was leaning forward in the saddle, her horse suddenly reared back; the back of its head hit Garland in the nose, breaking it. Since production couldn't wait until her nose healed, she was let go and replaced by Grey.
