West German Romantic Comedy with Sonja ZIEMANN and Ivan DESNY

Experienced star vehicle with Sonja Ziemann and Ivan Desny

In the 1950s, air travel was still something spectacular. It made sense to let audience favorite Sonja Ziemann (1926-2020) fly all the way to Athens as an attractive stewardess. These trials and tribulations of a flight attendant are no longer particularly impressive these days, but they are extremely well cast. We see Ivan Desny (1922-2002) as the married beau of the love-needy leading actress. His ailing wife is "Geierwally" Barbara Rütting (1927-2020). Claus Biederstaedt (1928-2020) plays the cute pilot with whom Sonja Ziemann can avoid the happy ending at the end of many detours.

Two supporting actors should be highlighted: the later West German TV series star Maria Sebaldt (1930-2023) as a cheeky stewardess who marries a Swede even though she doesn't understand Swedish, and the comedian Louis De Funes (1914-1983), who would become the well-known French box office magnet in the 1960s.

Insignificant mass entertainment from the Bavaria film studios, but back then there was at least a film industry worth mentioning in German-speaking countries!
