This serial borrows heavily on Adventures of Red Ryder (1940). Many of the chapters have scenes taken from Adventures of Red Ryder (1940). Jesse James (Clayton Moore) sometimes wears the same big brim hat and chaps as Red Ryder (Don 'Red' Barry). This was done so that the film footage would match during editing. Even the music had bits of "Oh Susanna" incorporated into it, which was the theme for the Red Ryder serial.
At the end of Chapter: 1, the stagecoach going off the cliff is reversed-image. This scene is taken from Adventures of Red Ryder (1940), Chapter: 1.
Episode 11, is a budget-saving recap episode where sequences from previous chapters are shown for most of the running time.
