This was the only film made by Brijkishore Agrawal. A father of four, he ran a successful business in the Bombay Stock Exchange. On meeting Raj Kapoor, son of the legend Prithviraj Kapoor, he was keen to cast him in the lead for this movie despite Raj Kapoor having no previous films to his credit. This movie has been named one of the top 50 classics of Indian cinema.
