Much fun is poked at Frank Sinatra's ultra-thin appearance. Sinatra, in fact, was known as "the skinny kid from Hoboken" in his early days, but audiences still swooned at his crooning.
B.O. Skunk is based on the characters Flower of the animated film of Bambi (1942) from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pepe Le Pew of Looney Tunes franchise from Warner Bros. Animation.
William Roberts performs the singing voice of B.O. Skunk in balcony scene and does the Frank Sinatra impersonation in the second scene.
The original working title was "Smellbound".
Originally there was to be a scene where the skunk imitated Bing Crosby to swoon the girls; for unknown reasons, it was switched to Frank Sinatra. (It likely was because Crosby had a contract with Paramount, while Sinatra's contract was with MGM, who produced this short.)
