Tony Curtis landed his first film role simply by walking through the Universal lot where he was spotted by director Robert Siodmak who asked him if he could dance.
The film was to be produced by Mark Hellinger, but he died suddenly in 1947, right after completing The Naked City (1948).
Tony Martinez, who played Pepino on The Real McCoys (1957), is playing the stand-up bass in the band.
