- Vince Kane: [pulling up in front of hotel] I'll go up with ya.
- Police Lt. Nick Ferrone: Why don't you stay out here and neck?
- [Elaine is also in the car]
- Vince Kane: Not with the top down.
- [Vince Kane can be seen entering his office. As he arrives, he takes off his hat as he sees a woman sitting down. This is Lucy Brackett. With Brackett is another man, this is Roger Lennert]
- Vince Kane: Hello, Lucy.
- Lucy Brackett: Hello, Vince.
- [Lennert stands up and shakes Kane's hand]
- Roger Lennert - Lucy's Attorney: Mr. Kane, I'm Roger Lennert, Mrs. Bracket's Attorney.
- Vince Kane: [returns the handshake] How are you?
- Roger Lennert - Lucy's Attorney: It's about Mrs. Brackett's husband. You don't know him, do you?
- [Kane hangs up his hat before heading over to his desk and sitting down]
- Vince Kane: No, not personally.
- Roger Lennert - Lucy's Attorney: I see. Well, uh, he was arrested late yesterday afternoon.
- Vince Kane: I know.
- Roger Lennert - Lucy's Attorney: Are you aware of the circumstances, Mr. Kane?
- Vince Kane: I think so.
- [in his office, Joe Farley can be seen speaking to someone via telephone]
- Joe Farley: Yes, I know, I know. But it seems to us, they're ought to be a way to make them understand that twenty-five thousand was a way out of line. After all, it's the boy's first offense, he comes from a good family.
- [Joe suddenly appears rather upset]
- Joe Farley: Okay, okay.
- [Joe hangs up the phone as he looks up at Vince Kane, who is standing in front of him]
- [Vince Kane can be seen speaking with Joe Farley, the latter who has just finished a conversation on the telephone]
- Joe Farley: Mr. DA says no.
- [Farley stands up from the desk he's sitting at]
- Joe Farley: Your pal Ferrone asked for the high bond. Now the DA's gotta summon him. What do you want me to do?
- Vince Kane: I want the guy sprung.
- Joe Farley: Vince, I don't know what your interest in this is. I'm not asking. We're still partners. I'm taking no risks. If those people can't twenty-five thousand, forget it. Understand? Forget it.
