The "Mechanical Types" played by Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne are not one pair of characters, but several different roles, working on trains, buses, aeroplanes, in cinemas and as watchmakers.
The final pairing of Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne, which had started with The Lady Vanishes (1938).
Sally Ann Howes and James Robertson Justice play a niece and uncle, respectively, in this movie. Nearly twenty years later, they would be reunited in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, playing daughter and father.
Made using Rank's "Independent Frame" production system. The system proved a costly flop.
Finchingfield, the village shown in the opening scene of the film was used a number of times in the TV series "Lovejoy" It was also home, in later life, to Dodie Smith, the author of 101 Dalmatians.
