Vulcano (1950)

Trivia

Vulcano

Edit
The first underwater filming techniques were developed for Vulcano's treasure-hunting scenes.
Italian censorship visa # 7131 delivered on 21 January 1950.
Passed by the British Board of Film Censors at 108 minutes on 5 December 1951 with an "A" certificate. Previewed in London at Studio One, Oxford Street on 18 December 1951 (one showing at 11am for press and trade only), but then put on hold by distributors Apex for re-editing. After chopping out 1426 feet (about 16 minutes), Apex premiered Volcano in the West End at the Rialto cinema on 28 November 1952 where it ran three weeks. Never likely to be generally released to every cinema, the film did a modest provincial tour during 1953, which included runs at Birmingham's Futurist, Derby's Coliseum and Bournemouth's Moderne.
