A German political thriller and film noir inspired by Carol Reed's film "The Third Man".
David O. Selznick talked about making an American version of this. He planned to keep Bettina Moissi, Fritz Kortner and Hans Christian Blech for their respective parts and wanted to use Alida Valli for the Irene von Meyendorff part, Françoise Rosay for Hilde Hildebrand's, Josef Cotten for Peter van Eyck's and Orson Welles for Carl Raddatz's. Shooting was to begin in early 1951 but nothing came of it.
