Jerry, who wants to help an escaped circus lion, triumphs over Tom, who wants to shoot the animal down. While Tom is aware from a radio news bulletin that a lion has escaped, and has his shotgun prepared in case the beast breaks into the house, he never actually learns that the lion is in fact in the house. In the final confrontation, Tom chases Jerry into a closet and then enters it himself, expecting to pummel the little rodent. What he doesn't know is that the lion is in the closet, too. Tom is the one who gets beaten. He is so frightened by Jerry's apparently new-found super-strength that he escapes from the house by bodily crashing through the wall. In the last scene, we see Jerry help the lion stow away onto a ship. They bid goodbye as the ship sails away.
