FAQ

Ocean's Eleven

FAQ

Ocean's Eleven is based on a screenplay written by American screenwriters Harry Brown and Charles Lederer, which in turn was based on a story idea by American screenwriters George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell. A novelization by George Clayton Johnson titled Ocean's 11 was released in 1960. A movie remake, also titled Ocean's Eleven (2001), was released in 2001.

Besides Danny Ocean and ace electrician Tony Bergdorf, there is Danny's best friend Jimmy Foster (Peter Lawford), entertainer Sam Harmon (Dean Martin), Mushy O'Connors (Joey Bishop), Josh Howard (Sammy Davis Jr.), Roger Corneal (Henry Silva), Vince Massler (Buddy Lester), Curly Steffans (Richard Benedict), Peter Rheimer (Norman Fell), and cowboy Louis Jackson (Clem Harvey).

Knowing that Bergdorf's widow intends to ship Tony's body to San Fransisco for burial, they hide the money in his coffin. However, when the Las Vegas mortuary owner suggests to her that, in order to save money, she should allow the local American Legion chapter to perform a military service, she agrees. When the boys hear about the change in plans, they attend the service. During the service, Mushy notices a strange sound and asks the others what it might be. They are informed that the deceased is being cremated. The final scene shows the remaining ten squadron members walking down the street, their faces filled with disappointment.

Albeit updated and modernized, the Flamingo, the Riviera, and the Sahara are still there. The Desert Inn and the Sands have been demolished and replaced respectively by the Wynn and the Venetian. Update: the Riviera was demolished in 2015.
