"She saw things she wasn't supposed to see." Lionsgate has unveiled an official trailer for the US release of the indie horror film Shadow of the Wolf from Italy. Originally titled L'ombra del lupo in Italian, this is getting a VOD release in March after first premiering in 2018 years ago (and opening already in Italy at the end of 2020). Christopher Lambert and Maria Grazia Cucinotta star in a chilling tale of horror. When Nico returns from overseas to say farewell to his ailing mother in Italy, he discovers something monstrous is happening in the small town he once called home. As the list of grizzly murder victims begins to grow and the authorities fear the killer is a beast unlike anything that they have ever seen (you mean - a werewolf?), Nico senses a savage transformation within himself and uncovers the terrifying secret his family could never reveal. Another werewolf spin?...

What an episode. As stupid as the “two part Survivor finale” spin is, this penultimate episode of Survivor 47 was great. From a perfectly played final 6, to some of the most fun fake idol shenanigans Survivor has ever seen, this episode was awesome. So let’s not waste anymore time and get to it!

Even though it’s not the true finale, Jeff Probst still welcomes us by recapping what has happened so far in Survivor 47. He goes through each player, highlighting what they’ve done to make it this far. It’s the usual filler, but it’s a Survivor finale classic, so let’s roll with it.

A healthy ecosystem and healthy competition is the biggest challenge for Netflix Emea, according to chief Larry Tanz.
Tanz threw the gauntlet down to competitors by urging: “We need all of us to develop the next generation of storytellers and want to get ahead on how we develop and upskill storytellers, writers, directors, producers and below the line talent.” He implied that Netflix is ahead of the game in this area, pointing to training programs the streamer has run across the world and an upcoming one at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
“We have been pretty consistent in terms of our investment and growth,” he went on to say at Content London. “We are seeing that our locally-oriented commissioning approach is working for our members and business. We want a healthy ecosystem and healthy competition – that is our biggest challenge.”

In a statement, via Deadline, the BBC said: “We have assessed the complaints and we have upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made. We want to apologize to Amanda Abbington and to thank her for coming forward and taking part. We know this would not have been an easy thing to do.”

The BBC was not specific about what complaints had been upheld, likely due to confidentiality in the investigation.

The BBC said it would investigate after Abbington made specific allegations regarding her dance partner Giovanni Pernice. Now the corporation has confirmed it has “upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made.” The report did not find Pernice guilty of threatening or abusive behavior.

TIFF: Sprawling, historical family sagas used to be de rigueur as culminating artistic statements from our greatest talents. Classic examples include Thomas Mann‘s “Buddenbrooks” and Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa‘s “The Leopard.” It is, thus, heartening to see director Maura Delpero attempting such a tale in just her second narrative feature.

Edek (Stephen Fry) is a Holocaust survivor from Łódź who emigrated to America with his late wife after surviving the unfathomable horrors of Auschwitz. He’s boisterous, horny, and impossible to embarrass — the kind of guy who will happily sing karaoke in a crowded hotel bar and then flirt with half of the women in the audience for an encore. His daughter Ruth (Lena Dunham) is a 36-year-old music journalist from New York City whose greatest hardship in life was landing an interview with the Rolling Stones. If Renate Reinsve hadn’t been offered the lead in Joachim Trier’s 2021 feature The Worst Person in the World, she was planning to quit acting and become a carpenter. After years of frustration with the roles being offered her in Norway, Reinsve had decided to try out Plan B: Learn woodworking and set up a carpentry school for young girls and women.
“I had just finished renovating my house,” Reinsve recalls, “and I really loved it, doing things with my hands, making something physical and real. So I thought: Maybe this is what I should be doing.”
But that call from Trier put Plan A back on the table. The Worst Person in the World, which Reinsve describes as an “anti-romantic romantic comedy,” premiered in Cannes and was an instant breakout. Reinsve’s performance as Julie, a funny and flawed, charming, chaotic and profoundly relatable 30-something who tumbles through jobs and relationships,...

Made In Italy has a low Rotten Tomatoes rating of 44% from critics and 39% from the audience. The movie's plot is meandering and the conflict over the villa is drawn-out, but the lead performances by Liam Neeson and Michael Richardson are solid. Made In Italy is redeemed by its stunning scenery and the chemistry between Neeson and Richardson, making it worth watching for fans of the actors and those who enjoy family dramas.
While 2020’s Made In Italy is currently blowing up on Netflix, its low Rotten Tomatoes rating makes it tough to tell whether the dramedy is worth a watch. Made In Italy stars Liam Neeson as Robert, a widower confronted by his troubled past when he inherits a crumbling house from his late wife. Neeson’s free-spirited artist renovates the home while struggling to connect with his estranged son, Michael Richardson’s Jack. Jack is going through a rough...

Ridley Scott’s Napoleon and Michael Mann’s Ferrari are facing allegations — surprising for two films focused on straight white male protagonists — of cultural appropriation.
French and Italian critics have taken offense at the directors’ decisions to cast American actors to play national icons — Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon Bonaparte, the general who became French emperor, and Adam Driver as visionary Italian carmaker Enzo Ferrari — and, adding insult to injury, having them speak in English.
“It’s original sin,” wrote a Ferrari reviewer for Italy’s Movieplayer magazine on the casting of Driver, alongside Spanish actor Penélope Cruz as Ferrari’s wife, Laura, and American Shailene Woodley as his mistress. “Not just to have them speak English, but with a dodgy Italian accent.”
“Deeply clumsy, unnatural and unintentionally funny” was French GQ’s assessment of the very French characters of Napoleon and his lover Josephine (played by Brit Vanessa Kirby) speaking en anglais.

Cinema professionals from across Europe are gathering in Berlin this weekend for the ceremony of the 36th European Film Awards on Saturday evening.
This younger cousin of Hollywood’s near hundred-year-old Academy Awards is overseen by the Berlin-based European Film Academy.
The body’s 4,600 members – hailing from “geographical Europe” as well as Israel, Palestine and Russia, – vote on an official Academy Selection made up of around 40 films selected by the European Academy Board and a group of experts.
Finnish filmmaker Aki Kaurismäki’s Fallen Leaves and UK director Jonathan Glazer The Zone Of Interest top the nominations this year, followed by Justine Triet’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner Anatomy Of A Fall and Poland’s Agnieszka Holland’s Green Border, which won the Venice Special Jury Prize.
Awards for the craft categories were decided by an expert jury and announced ahead of tonight’s ceremony.
