Blood of Dracula (1957)

FAQ

Blood of Dracula

FAQ

Eighteen-year old Nancy Perkins (Sandra Harrison) is sent to The Sherwood School for Girls when her father remarries a floozy only six weeks after her mother dies. Consequently, Nancy is filled with anger, which is just what the resident chemistry teacher, Miss Branding (Louise Lewis), needs to complete her thesis. Using hypnosis and an antique necklace from the Carpathian Mountains, Miss Branding succeeds in unleashing the destructive power inside of Nancy, but at a terrible price...it turns Nancy into a vampire.

The original screenplay was written by American screenwriter Aben Kandel (credited as Ralph Thornton).

No. They are two entirely different songs. The song in Blood of Dracula was written by Jerry Blaine. The song recorded by Paul Anka, and later Donny Osmond, was written by Paul Anka.

Having read about all the murders at Sherwood, Nancy's boyfriend Glenn (Michael Hall) drives up to see her, but Nancy acts cold towards him and shoos him away, not wanting to kill him. She goes to Miss Branding's laboratory and pleads for release from the experiment, not caring about the fancy talk about how it will affect the mankind and the future of the human race, but Branding refuses. She offers Nancy something to drink that will make her forget, but Nancy knocks it to the floor. Branding tries to hypnotize Nancy with the amulet, but Nancy refuses to look at it. They enter into a battle of wills, and Nancy's anger causes her to change into the vampire. Nancy leaps on Branding and strangles her with the chain of the amulet. In their struggle, Nancy knocks over a table and falls against it. Glenn, Myra (Gail Ganley), and Mrs Thorndyke (Mary Adams) break down the door and find Nancy impaled on a shaft of wood, Branding dead, and her thesis burned to shreds. As Myra and Glenn look on in horror, Thorndyke reminds them that 'there is a power greater than science that rules the earth. And those that twist and pervert knowledge for evil only work out their own destruction.'
