First of three appearances by Dick Elliott as Mike Clancy, who essentially took over from Bernard Gorcey as the owner of the joint where the boys hang out. Presumably he would have stayed with the series had it continued.
The forty-sixth of forty-eight Bowery Boys movies released from 1946 to 1958, and the fifth of the last seven after the departure of Leo Gorcey. Even so, there are caricatures of Gorcey in the opening credits and at the end of the film.
The gag of Sach pulling a knife out of the wall but only getting the handle (leaving the blade embedded) was later recycled by writers Edward Bernds and Elwood Ullman in their script for Elvis Presley's Tickle Me (1965).
