Not part of the "Carry On..." film series, which began with Carry on Sergeant (1958) and continued via 30 films until Carry on Columbus (1992).
Eunice Gayson became the first James Bond Girl, appearing as Sylvia Trench in "Dr. No" (1962) and "From Russia with Love" (1963).
Ronald Shiner receives a "guest star" credit.
Contains a rare appearance of Peter Coke as Lieutenant Lashwood. One year after making this, Coke became the regular voice of author turned sleuth, Paul Temple in 86 episodes of the BBC Paul Temple Radio series. During this time he shunned publicity and avoided being photographed as he didn't want the public to associate the character with his own appearance. (Source: BBC Interview with Coke, June 2005)
Based on the play, "Off The Record" that ran in London's West End from 3 June 1947 to 12 February 1949 with over 700 performances.
