Trivia

Cole Younger, Gunfighter

Edit
His uncredited bit part was the final screen appearance for David Gorcey - brother of Leo Gorcey, and best known for his work in "The Bowery Boys" and related series of pictures.
Final film of Frank Lovejoy. He would continue his career on television until his untimely death due to a heart attack in 1962 at the age of 50.
In the hotel in Abiline, Cole gives Kit a newspaper announcing the election of Richard Coke (1829-1897) as the new Democrat governor of Texas. Coke immediately set about undoing the Reconstructionist reforms of the previous two Republican governors, especially those that pertained to the rights of African-Americans.
Ainslie Pryor, who portrayed the evil Captain Follyard, died at the age of 37 on May 27th 1958 less than two months after the release of this film.
The same script, derived from a novel by Clifton Adams and screen-written by Daniel Mainwaring, was previously used in The Desperado (1954) distributed by Allied Artists Pictures four years earlier. Allied produced and distributed the new film. Some minor action elements were trimmed, making the new film about two minutes shorter. The other main difference is that the new version was shot in color.
