When the female aliens give Joe their card, their spacecraft is described as a "Sputnik--G.i--8." "Sputnik" is the name of the first artificial earth satellite and was launched by the Soviet Union on October 4, 1957. This short was filmed less than three months later, on December 19-20, 1957.
