Beach Dickerson, a Corman regular, played four roles in this film... not only is he the fair-haired boy that drowns in quicksand, he is also the stranger riding in from the burning plains, the bear that attacks the hunting party, and a drummer during the funeral for his own character.
This film was shot under the title "Prehistoric World." American International Pictures changed the title to "Teenage Cave Man." Years later, Roger Corman would be quoted as saying, "I never directed a film called "Teenage Cave Man."
During filming, Robert Vaughn cut his foot when he stepped on a broken glass bottle, which caused him to miss several days of filming. Another day he was bitten by one of the dogs, again sending him to a medical clinic.
The Symbol Maker's (Leslie Bradley) fur outfit is actually made of rug material and not fur.
